JCI Manila Serves Up a New Community with the Launch of the Pickleball Club

JCI Manila officially expanded its growing sports community with the launch of the JCI Manila Pickleball Club in 2026, introducing a new platform where members can stay active, build friendships, and strengthen camaraderie through one of the world's fastest-growing sports.

Spearheaded by Membership Development Director Erwin Bolivar and Chairman Alec Velasco, the initiative aims to bring together both seasoned athletes and complete beginners through a structured development program centered on learning, fellowship, and healthy competition.

The club officially got underway with JCI Manila Pickleball Rookie Camp Leg 1, an exciting introductory session designed to welcome new players into the sport. Participants learned the fundamentals of pickleball, developed their skills through guided drills, and enjoyed friendly rallies in a relaxed and supportive environment. More importantly, the Rookie Camp provided members the opportunity to meet fellow players, forge new friendships, and experience the vibrant community that pickleball has become known for worldwide.

The Rookie Camp series forms a key part of the club's long-term roadmap. Before the official league competition begins, multiple Rookie Camp Legs will be conducted to allow organizers to get to know participants, evaluate individual skill levels, and properly classify players. This thoughtful approach ensures balanced competition while giving everyone—regardless of experience—the confidence to learn, improve, and enjoy the game.

Beyond player development, the Rookie Camp series was intentionally designed to be inclusive, welcoming not only JCI Manila members but also their friends, family members, and even their children to experience the sport together. By opening the courts to loved ones, the initiative created a fun and welcoming environment where families could bond, friendships could flourish, and new memories could be made through pickleball.
